"Education should no longer be mostly imparting knowledge, but must take a new path, seeking the release of human potentialities." Maria Montessori.
There is a common but wrong perception that Caribbean children with learning challenges are simply slow.
It's quite the contrary: learning challenges relates to a broad range of factors that adversely affect a child's ability to learn in traditional fashion.
Children with learning challenges learn differently -- faster, slower, through alternative stimuli, via different methods or examples. Some are gifted, some may take a bit longer to understand certain concepts, some are dealing with other issues, but they all learn differently.
It is the mission of Love of Kids to act as a home base through which Caribbean children with learning challenges are enabled to learn and compete on equal footing with others. Our site has resources and information that can directly affect the life direction of thousands of Caribbean children, and we take our mission very seriously.
Indeed, millions of people with learning challenges go on to achieve great success . . . and thousands achieve fame and fortune in an infinite variety of careers, just like people who learn "traditionally."
Examples? People like Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, Charles Schwab, football great Terry Bradshaw, Albert Einstein, John F. Kennedy, Henry "The Fonz" Winkler, John Lennon, and many others have dealt with learning challenges.
"About Learning "Challenges" sketches common types affecting millions of people. Our Resource Guide and Parents Helping Parents sections offer still more help.
Check the pages noted below or the navigation bar to the left and peruse our site: it offers a wealth of information that can be of great value to every family with a child affected by learning challenges.
